Housing

The goal of the Dominican Center housing program is revitalization through resident leadership which is cultivated and encouraged at each step in the program.

The Center works with homeowners to make their homes healthy, safe and code-compliant. This also involves working with the City of Milwaukee Health Department to address lead-poisoning concerns and asthma abatement triggers present in the neighborhood housing stock.

The 24th Street/24th Place Investment Group was organized to address foreclosed and abandoned homes and other neighborhood issues. Since its inception, neighbors and landlords have gotten involved together to work effectively for a safe, secure neighborhood.

The following groups have grown through encouragement by the Dominican Center and meet monthly to encourage and share ideas, consult with resource professionals on homeownership issues, and plan group action on neighborhood issues: Saturday Home Action Group, Senior Homeowners Group and the 24th Street/24th Place Investment Group.
